【摘要】:Regulationslimitingtheconcentrationofbenzeneandthetotalaromaticcontentoffinishedgasolinehavebeenestablishedfor1995andbeyondinordertoreducetheozonereactivityandtoxicityofautomotiveevaporativeandexhaustemissions.Testmethodstodeterminebenzeneandthearomaticcontentofgasolinearenecessarytoassessproductqualityandtomeetnewfuelregulations.Thistestmethodcanbeusedforgasolinesthatcontainoxygenates(alcoholsandethers)asadditives.Ithasbeendeterminedthatthecommonoxygenatesfoundinfinishedgasolinedonotinterferewiththeanalysisofbenzeneandotheraromaticsbythistestmethod.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofbenzene,toluene,ethylbenzene,thexylenes,C9andheavieraromatics,andtotalaromaticsinfinishedmotorgasolinebygaschromatography.1.2Thearomatichydrocarbonsareseparatedwithoutinterferencesfromotherhydrocarbonsinfinishedgasoline.Nonaromatichydrocarbonshavingaboilingpointgreaterthann-dodecanemaycauseinterferenceswiththedeterminationoftheC9andheavieraromatics.FortheC8aromatics,p-xyleneandm-xyleneco-elutewhileethylbenzeneando-xyleneareseparated.TheC9andheavieraromaticsaredeterminedasasinglegroup.1.3Thistestmethodcoversthefollowingconcentrationranges,inliquidvolume%,fortheprecedingaromatics:benzene,0.1to5%;toluene,1to15%;individualC8aromatics,0.5to10%;totalC9andheavieraromatics,5to30%,andtotalaromatics,10to80%.1.4Resultsarereportedtothenearest0.01%byeithermassorbyliquidvolume.1.5Manyofthecommonalcoholsandethersthatareaddedtogasolinetoreducecarbonmonoxideemissionsandincreaseoctane,donotinterferewiththeanalysis.Etherssuchasmethyltert-butylether(MTBE),ethyltert-butylether(ETBE),tert-amylmethylether(TAME),anddiisopropylether(DIPE)havebeenfoundtoelutefromtheprecolumnwiththenonaromatichydrocarbonstovent.Otheroxygenates,includingmethanolandethanolelutebeforebenzeneandthearomatichydrocarbons.1-Methylcyclopentenehasalsobeenfoundtoelutefromtheprecolumntoventanddoesnotinterferewithbenzene.1.6ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.7Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
